Henri Poincaré

Henri Poincaré, was one of France's greatest mathematicians and theoretical physicists, and a philosopher of science. He is often described as a polymath and as 'The Last Universalist' in mathematics, because he excelled in all fields of the discipline as it existed during his lifetime. He is known for his early formulation of the theory of relativity and for formulating the Poincaré conjecture, one of the most famous problems in mathematics. He also laid the groundwork for chaos theory in the process of attempting to solve the important problem of the motion of three or more bodies acting under mutual gravitation.
